The man who was convicted of killing his 14-year-old adopted daughter and burying her in Monterey Township was sentenced in Allegan County Circuit Court Monday to 35 to 50 years in prison.
Dennis Lee Bowman, 75, also was serving a life sentence for killing a 25-year-old woman in Virginia.
Bowman was sentenced for second-degree murder of Aundria Bowman after pleading no contest to the charge last December. Authorities found Aundria’s skeletal remains in near 136th Avenue in Monterey Township.
Bowman’s wife, Brenda, testified almost a year ago that Aundria confided she had been molested by her father when she was 13 and 14.
Allegan County deputies said Bowman confessed to confronting and striking his daughter, causing her to lose balance and fall. Bowman afterward was said to have cut up her body parts with an axe and machete and disposed of them.
Bowman has a long record of violent crimes and break-ins.
