Wayland High School graduate Emma Ludema tossed a no-hitter for Calvin University Saturday in the second game of an MIAA doubleheader against Kalamazoo College.
The Knights prevailed in that nightcap 10-0 and the game was halted after the fifth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule. Ludema struck out five batters.
Ludema, who was no stranger to scoreless and hitless outings during her prep career as a Wildcat, impved her record this season to 4-2. A senior, she has been pitching for Calvin all four years.
The Knights now are 16-9 overall for the campaign.
