Former WHS student Bob Moras dies in Alpena

Former Wayland High School student Robert Moras, 77, of Alpena died of brain cancer Thursday, July 17, at MyMichigan Medical Center, Alpena.

Robert was born Jan. 28, 1948, in Detroit to the late Fred and Mary (Pull) Moras. He served in the United States Coast Guard on the USS Mackinaw. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football, reading and gambling.

He attended Wayland High School during his eighth grade and freshman and sophomore years. His family, who had lived near Selkirk Lake, moved to Alpena in 1964.

Surviving are his daughter, Kendra Talamantes; three grandchildren, Stone, Parker and Valentino; two siblings, Susan (Frank) Hosinski and Bill Witter; several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Moras, who also attended Wayland schools in the early 1960s.

Cremation arrangements have been made by the Bannan Funeral Home.
