Founder of Brenner Tours Doris Brenner passes at 90

Wayland High Schoo3089032l graduate Doris Brenner of Monterey Township died Monday, April 27. She was 90 years old.

Mrs. Brenner was born May 4, 1924, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of William and Minnie (Arnsman) Westfhal. Doris graduated from Wayland High School, Class of 1942.

She was a life member of the Hopkins United Methodist Church, and she loved her church family. She was the founder of Brenner Tours, she loved to travel and loved her travelers, she would be heard saying,”Hi, I am mom Brenner,” as they started off on the next adventure. Surviving are her three children: Marla and Edward Swieter, Pam Brenner and Robert VanDenBrink, Bruce and Shelly Brenner; eight grandchildren: Thomas and Gina Van Bruggen, Timothy and Lauren Swieter, Bradley Swieter, Kaylee and Chad Brenner-VandenBrink, Sarah and Geremy Kurzmann, Jamie and Beth Brenner, Lindsey and Ryan Mulder; eight great-grandchildren: Meaghan, Colin, Lincoln, Tayah, Lawson, Baylor, Gavin, and baby Kurzman; her brother: Bill and Jan Westfhal, her sister-in-law, Alice Brenner, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lyman and June Moored; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl.

Friends may meet with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Hopkins United Methodist Church. Interment in Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Township.
