Five Wayland Union Schools teams competed in the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition at Thornapple Kellogg.Four of five teams will advance to the state competition on March 21.
The teams were:
- Yost/Pardee Team (Steeby Elementary) – fifth place in their problem.
- McGrady-Hawley Team (Wayland Union High School) – second place, advancing to state.
- Simpson Team (Pine Street Elementary) – second place and recipient of a special award presented to only five teams across the entire tournament, advancing to state.
- Smallegan Team (Pine Street Elementary) – first place, advancing to state.
- Savides Team (Dorr and Baker students) – third place, advancing to state.
A spokeperson said, ”We are incredibly proud of the creativity, teamwork and dedication each group demonstrated throughout the competition season.”
