Betty Heath, 77, of Dorr, died Tuesday, Dec. 1. Born September 17, 1943, in Portageville, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Willford and Grace (Stover) Barnes and the wife of the late Royce Allen Heath, Sr.

Betty was a woman who was an active member of the Allegan Assembly of God Church. Betty married Royce Allen Heath (Pete) on Nov. 6, 1961, and as a homemaker, she provided a loving and nurturing home, always being there for her husband and their four children.

Venturing out a bit, she volunteered for the 700 Club taking calls. Betty had found her niche – she loved chatting with people, hearing about their lives. She loved telling stories and made friends easily. In talking with others, she became more of a counselor.

Betty also enjoyed garage sales and checking out the thrift stores. In her spare time, you could find Betty watching Christian Television, watching and appreciating the birds outside, and going for long car rides on a Sunday afternoon, especially when Pete was alive and sharing the adventure.

Surviving are her daughters, Julie (Kirk) Lapham and Patty (Terry) Sterken; and her son, Timothy (Joyann) Heath; daughter-in-law, Jayne Heath; her brother, Cliffton (Pat) Barnes; her sister, Helen (Percy) Terry; nine grandchildren, Sherry Morrison, Houston Heath, Carson Heath, Stephanie Wagonmaker, Efrin Heath, Benson Heath, Emalyn Heath, Andrea Heath, and Vergel Heath; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Pete, and her parents, Willford and Grace, she was preceded in death by her son, Royce Allen Heath, Jr.; and her brother, Alvin Barnes.

A funeral is planned at a later date. Please check back to the website later at www.gordenfuneral.com
