Thomas Dale Wallace died Sunday, May 12, at Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids, at the age of 57.

Tom was born on Nov. 3, 1961, in Kalamazoo, to Dennis and Sandra Wallace. He graduated from Plainwell High School in 1980 and later from Aims Community College in Greeley, CO. He married Joan in 2001, after “reuniting” at their 20-year class reunion.

Tom most recently started a lawn mowing and snow plowing business, West Michigan Lawn Enforcement. His children remember him as a fun-loving, caring father who encouraged them to love life and to work hard. Tom was accomplished at the gift of gab and was a jack-of-all-trades. He was an active member of Gun Lake Community Church and often volunteered in its various missions.

Tom is survived by his wife Joan, and son Zack, Wayland, and daughter, Hannah Wallace, Seward, NE; and brother Tim (Jenny) Wallace, Plainwell.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Sandra (Miller) Wallace, Plainwell, and his sister, Tammy Wallace, Plainwell.

A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday May 21, at Gun Lake Community Church (12200 W M 179 Hwy, Wayland) with a reception to follow. Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at GLCC and at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor Dan Beyer will officiate the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Zachary Wallace Education Fund at Lake Michigan Credit Union or Gun Lake Community Church Youth Ministry.
