
Kenneth “Ken” L. Brinks, of Wayland died Saturday, Nov. 29. He was 80.
Born June 29, 1945, he was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, adored brother and uncle. He lived his life by example, remaining humble and steadfast in his faith and in Christ.
Ken, born in Vriesland, MI, graduated in 1965 from Zeeland High School, later graduating from Hope College in 1969 with a bachelor of science, chemistry.
Ken had an esteemed career in the manufacturing sector, stretching across chemical, plastics, and aerosols. He enjoyed the multitude of home improvement projects, working with the senior group at church and just being around his loved ones. He also was an exceptional home chef.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Douglas and his wife, Rebecca, their three children Alexandra, Harry, and Victoria; daughter, Michelle and her three children Kaitlyn, Joshua and Matthew. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Tammy and her four children Lucas, Betsy, Jason and Jody; and stepson, James II, his wife Tina, and their three children James III, Jordan and Emma; along with 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert and his wife Carol; many brothers- and sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deanna; sister, Arloa and her husband, Ron; brother, Don and his wife, Vi; along with his parents Joe and Marie.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Orangeville Baptist Church, 6921 Marsh Road, Plainwell. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St. Wayland, and one hour prior to services at church Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prostate Cancer Institute of America or to the Orangeville Baptist Church.
