Marcia Belka, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died Sunday, Feb. 13. She was 75.

Born May 7, 1946, Marcia grew up in Grand Rapids with her sisters, and attended Creston High School. She married David Oele in 1967 and moved to Dorr, where they had three children. After David’s death in 1975, she dedicated her life to raising her three children and later married Thomas Belka Jr. April 21, 1990, welcoming his two children into the family.

Marcia enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and especially enjoyed scenic drives, exploring waterfalls and forests, and the beauty of Michigan’s spectacular coast. Marcia enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and as far as is known, still holds the highest score for Atari’s Missile Command, circa 1983.

She was preceded in death by her parents Johannes (John) and Louise Dirkse; husband, David Oele; in-laws Thomas Sr. and Edna Belka; and grandson, Owen Kuperus.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Jr.; children Michelle and Glenn Kuperus, Brian and Belinda Oele, Douglas Oele, Jeremy and Shannon Belka, and Rachel and Trenton Farmer; grandchildren Steven (Ashley) Davis, Emily (Tyler) Bancino, and Drew Kuperus; David (Kelli) Oele, Elijah and Rebecca Oele; Amber, Hunter, Harley and Zaidyn Oele; Trenten and Ty Belka; Darian and KeAira Curry and Cayden and Abby Farmer; siblings Sherry (John) Berka, and Rita (Sybrent) Dykhouse; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless friends she considered family.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 at Dorr Christian Reformed Church, 4220 18th St. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Dorr Christian Reformed Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17.
