Proud Native American Emily Susan Renae Comer died Wednesday, Aug. 7. She was only 27.

Emily was a free spirit who raised her children to be free and expressive as well. She loved life and her family was most important. Emily was proud of her Indian culture and wanted her kids to be aware of all that goes with that. She was a picture taker and also loved music.

She is survived by her father, Robert (Kimberly) Comer; children Aderyan Vandermore, Alby Vandermore, and Charlie Wooten; siblings Kara Fluhart (Modesto Pequeno), Kyle Comer (Britney Curtiss), Lucas Comer(Julia Torres) and Sara Comer; grandmother, Mary Pigeon; grandfather, Robert Comer Sr.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Melinda Smith. 

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug.15, at Luella Collins Community Center, 419 126th Ave., Shelbyville. Her funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service, at Luella Collins Community Center.
