The 46-year-old Dorr man being sought as a missing person by the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department this past week has died, according to the Cook-Kubiak Funeral Home.

The Dorr funeral service this morning posted on its web site that he died Wednesday, Oct. 28, the day he reportedly was found.

A friend of the family posted on Facebook Friday, “I would like to thank everyone who took the time to help find John. At this time the family is grieving for their loss, they all need your prayers during this difficult time.”

The Sheriff’s Department announced that John Ashley Adkins had been located and thanked all those who assisted in the search, but did not disclose any further information, such as whether or not he was alive. Adkins was last seen on Sunday, Oct. 25, around 9:30 a.m. at his residence and was believed to have left on foot and was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, denim jeans, black shoes and a black hat with lime green lettering.
