
Imogene S. LaFountain, of Otsego, a 1956 graduate of Martin High School, died Saturday, April 4. She was 88.
The daughter of John and Mary (Frazier) Girton, she was born March 29, 1938, in Winimac, Ind. Imogene , Imogene married Leo LaFountain in Allegan County on March 20, 1965.
Imogene spent many years working in retail, most notably at Meijer, as a greeter and in the floral department, until her retirement in 2008. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, watching western movies, and growing flowers in her garden. She also loved spending time with her many grandchildren.
Imogene is survived by her children, Jerry (Sheila Sauser) Girton, Crystal (Dave) Dalton, Debbie (Richard) Cutshaw, Ted (Jane) LaFountain, Marjorie (Riley) Castleberry, Janet LaFountain, and Bruce (Linda) LaFountain; siblings John (Ann) Girton Jr., Virginia (Joe) Roberts and Doris “Kathy” Maher, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Cheryl Butler, stepdaughters Brenda and Tammy LaFountain, granddaughter Renee Schell, and brother-in-law Robert Maher.
Friends may visit with Imogene’s family starting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego, until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Burial of ashes will follow at Miner Cemetery in Watson Township.
