Wilma Smith died Monday, March 9, at Georgetown and Cambridge Manor. She was 93.

Wilma was born in Burnips on March 26, 1926 to Anthony and Friedericka (nee Strickfaden) Berens. She was known for her quilt-making and embroidery talents as well as her expert cooking skills. She loved birdwatching and spending time with family.

Wilma was also a devoted member of the Burnips United Methodist Church and a steadfast follower of Christ. For many years, Wilma worked at DeJongh’s Store in Burnips and later at Heyboer Transformers in Overisel. She was also a longtime treasurer of the Burnips United Methodist Church.

Wilma is survived by her sisters Laurene, Una, Arlene, and Treasure; her brother, Lorne; and sisters-in-law Annabelle Harnish (nee Smith) and Colleen Smith, daughters Kay Klamer, Karen (Gregg) Gerkin, and Nancy (Richard) Hayes; her grandchildren Shawn, Shannon, Sarah, Aaron, Nathaniel, Sonya, and Eric; great-grandsons Jonathon, John, Gabriel, Noel, and Arden Roger; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Burnips United Methodist Church or Cambridge Manor of Grandville. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at Burnips United Methodist Church, 4241 30th St., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
