Julie Lenhart of Wayland died Sunday. She was 54.

Julie had many passions, some of which included flower arranging, crafting and her dogs. She was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Tigers, and the Grand Rapids Whitecaps. She had a heart for others, volunteering at the Wayland Area Christian Neighbors Food Pantry and just lending a hand to those in need.

Julie was a graduate of the 1987 class of Wayland Union High School and received her associate degree at Grand Rapids Community College in radiological technology. She worked as an x-ray technician for Blodgett Hospital. She fought a 31-year battle with multiple sclerosis.

Julie is survived by her husband of 21 years, Gerard Lenhart; stepson, Michael Lenhart; two grandsons Hunter, Owen; parents Bill and Faye Howe; siblings Cara Howe, Kristie (Tom Bezinque) Mulder; nephew, Jack Mulder; niece, Grace Mulder; four-legged friend, Jack; and many extended relatives and friends.

Julie was preceded in death by her grandparents Tom and Helen Brown, Harry and Joyce Howe; and sister-in-law, Cindy Williams.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Wayland Chapel, 312 N. Main St., with prayers of the Rosary at 3 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar St., Wayland. Julie will be laid to rest at Hooker Cemetery.

In memory of Julie and lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, Wayland Area Christian Neighbors Food Pantry or Faith Hospice.
