Robert Smith of Dorr died Thursday, Dec. 21. He was 79.

He was born in Grand Rapids on March 1, 1938. Bob enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, going to auctions, car races, the family cabin, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nyla, his children; Robert (Lesa) Smith, Paul (Joyce) Smith, Terry (Richard) Blaauw, Eric (Julie) Smith, Penny (Sean) VanDommelen, Darrin (Julie) Smith, Chad (Melissa) Smith; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; siblings, Russ (Shirley) Smith, Ron (Linda) Smith, Mike (Gwen) Smith, Greg (Sandy) Smith, Bruce (June) Smith, and Patricia Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Lillian; his brother Richard Smith, sisters; Doris Doxey, Donna Scrivener, and Patricia Walker; his in-laws Edwin (Myrtle) and Julia Wolf.

Bob’s family will meet with relatives and friends Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church – 4125 18th St. Dorr,  with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27,  at St. Peters Lutheran Church.
