Leo A. Smith died at his home in Dorr of cancer Tuesday, May 4. He was 92.

Born Sept. 11, 1928, to Antone and Hartsel Smith of Belmont Addition, Mich., he was the second of seven children.

He is survived by brothers and sisters Anna, Paul, Alice, and Richard. He is survived by Mark and Sandra Smith, Linda Smith, Michael Smith, Bernie and Lorie Smith, Karen and Jeff Lenhart, Phillip and Rose Smith, and Gary Smith. He was also loved by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are Richard and Christine Smith. Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, in 1998. They raised and loved a family of nine children. He also was preceded in death by siblings Leonard and Betty.

Visitation will be  from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1871 136th Ave., Dorr, with visitation an hour prior to the service and prayers of the Rosary held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

In memory of Leo and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
