Barbara Townshend, age 80, died Monday, June 8, at her home.

Barbara loved playing Bridge with her group she met with once a month. She also loved fishing, though her style of fishing consisted of letting the line float in the water while she enjoyed a book on the pontoon. Earlier in life, she loved to play piano. She was also involved in her church and her faith was very important to her.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harold Townshend; her children Michael (Darlene) Townshend, James Townshend, Diane (Craig) Vissers, Lori (Kyle) Butters; grandchildren Alicia, Jacquelyn, Krista (Dale), Courtney, Aja, Brittany, Sasha, Bryan, Jennifer (William), Colin, Riley; great-grandchildren Kennedy, Christian; her sister, Carol Colman; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents Louis and Jean Jachimowicz.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Wayland Chapel, 312 N. Main St., with prayers of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, t Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 159 131st Ave, Wayland.

In memory of Barbara and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
