Patricia A. Akers, age 87, of Martin, formerly of Shelbyville, died Saturday, May 27.

Patricia loved being a homemaker and spending time with her family. She enjoyed canning, gardening, baking and playing the organ.

Patricia is survived by her children, James and Sylvia Akers, John and Donella Akers, Jerry and Annette Akers, Jeff Akers, Sue Langley, Mary and Vern Schwarz, Bob Akers, Bill Akers; her 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Dorothy Mull, Dick Adamczyk; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Akers; parents, Joseph and Helen Adamczyk; and her siblings, Margaret Adamczyk, Justine Northrop, and Arnold Adamczyk.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 6:30 Tuesday at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services in Wayland, 312 N. Main St. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at St. Therese Catholic Church. Father Alphonse Savarimuthu will officiate. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

In honor of Patricia, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
