Paul Edward James, age 72, of Dorr, died Saturday, July 18.

Paul was a loving and caring husband and father, who always led his family with strength and confidence. A proud veteran and entrepreneur, he spent his life modeling hard work and kindness toward others. Paul was a champion for education and recognized its importance in promoting a fulfilling life. He had an uncanny ability to recognize individual strengths, and relentlessly pushed those he loved to reach their greatest potential.

He is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Katy; daughter Ann (James) Bingham; sons George and David;  grandchild Samuel; siblings, Richard (Linda), David (Rosemary) and Mary James; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jessie (Newhouse) and George James and brother Samuel.

Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m.  Tuesday, July 21, at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish, 2459 – 146th Ave., Byron Center. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the funeral mass.

In honor of Paul and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Education Foundation
