Leroy M. Genther, age 83, died Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Leroy retired from Spartan Stores after 40 years of service. He was an Army veteran and Knights of Columbus member. He was an outdoorsman, avid golfer and card player. He liked to tinker in his shop and keep everything in its place.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay Genther; children David (Chris) Genther, Bob (Marge) Genther, and Ken (Melissa Tomaszewski) Genther; siblings Bonnie (Jerry) Wise and Bill (Carol) Genther; grandchildren Phil (Sarah) Rasnake, Amanda (Ron) Hoeksma, Michael (Michelle) Rasnake, Katie (Rick) Szymanski, Ashley (Luke) Wolters, Thomas Genther, Lindsay (Alec) Dickerson, Megan (Matt Belka) Genther, and Isaac Genther; 11 great-grandchildren; in-laws Pat Genther, Jan (John) Inghram, Bruce (Mary Jane) Hyde, Doris (Chuck) Mehlberg, Marlene Hooker, Will (Sharon) Hooker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special nephew and niece Terry (Kim) Hyde.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Anna Mae Genther; brothers Lloyd (Wilma) Genther, and Loren “Webb” Genther.

Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 – 18th St, Dorr, with a Rosary beginning at 1:30p.m..  Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Holy Family Catholic Parish, 9669 Kraft Ave. SE, Caledonia, with an hour of visitation prior. Father Chuck Fischer will be officiating.

In honor of Leroy, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or AA or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
