Rose Marie Hancock, age 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, while surrounded by her family.

Rose was a lifetime resident of Dorr and was involved in many organizations, including Project Hope in Dorr and Epiphany Lutheran Church, where she was a devoted member. In her 50s she returned to Wayland Union Schools and earned her high school diploma.

She was also employed by and retired from Wayland Schools as a custodian. Whenever she could, she loved spending time with her family – especially children and grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and crocheting.

She is survived by her children, Linda Hancock, Robin (Doris) Bowen, April (Terry) McFail, Toni (Craig) Baier, Fran (Dave) Hupp, Lora Hancock; 18 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; siblings Jim (Dorothy) Dever, Connie (David) Hupp, Carol Dever, Mary Dever; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Dale Hancock; parents James and Gladys Dever; and brothers Bob Dever and Billy Dever.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 4219 Park Ln, Dorr. Rose will be laid to rest at Dorr Cemetery.

In memory of Rose and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Project Hope in Dorr.
