David Lameris, age 78, of Dorr, died Monday, Oct. 2.

David was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Denver, Colo., to Andrew and Ruth (Joling) Lameris. He enjoyed serving in the Boy Scouts for more than 40 years, and was himself an Eagle Scout. Dave was a teacher, a talented craftsman, who loved the out of doors.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maryellen, children: Gary Lameris of Broomfield, CO, Russell and Ronda Lameris of Hamilton, Jeffrey Lameris of Grand Haven, Rebecca and Dennis Fleming of Hamilton, Matthew and Sarah Lameris of Hudsonville; 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, siblings: Rose Brandsma, Elain Sechler, Lori Miller, Paul and Amy Lameris, Irene and Michael Vander Meulen; in-laws: Robert and Marilyn Bergman, Barbara Antonides, Sandra Bergman, Thomas and Phyllis Bergman, Deborah and Lynn Schrock; and many extended family and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Bentheim Reformed Church, 3997 38th St., Hamilton, MI 49419. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. Interment will be in Bentheim Cemetery.
