Evelyn Jean Green, 80, of Allegan, died Tuesday, March 3 at Metro Health University Hospital.

Born July 28, 1939, she was the daughter of Weldon “Bud” and Marie (Barney) Wuis and was the wife of Albert (Sonny) Green. Evie loved her Lord and personal savior and found great joy in reading her Bible and sharing Bible stories with her children and grandchildren.

Evie worked for Wayland Union Schools for 18 years before retiring. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she always made it a priority to be there to watch all their sporting events and activities over the years.

When she was 60 years old, she enrolled at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and earned her associate’s degree. She wanted to prove to her grandchildren that if she could do it, they could too.

Besides her husband of sixty-three years, she is survived by her children, Tom (Dawn) Green, Tim Green (Angie Cameruci), Todd (Nyasha) Green and Sally (Doug) Hoffmaster; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Kyle, Janelle, Mykel, Amelia, Mitch, Ethan, Wes, Alan, Alex and Amanda; twelve great-grandchildren; her five sisters and best friends, Pat (Ray) Warner, Jane (Roger) Simpson, Nan (Harley) Schut, Kate (Milton) Johnson and Cindy (Babe) Sheley; as well as a host of other family members, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Along with her parents, Bud and Marie, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Wuis and David Wuis.

The family will receive friends at Hopkins Community Church from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 6. The funeral will take place at the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be in Poplar Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hopkins Community Church, 2142 128th Avenue, or to the Hopkins FFA, 333 Clark St., Hopkins.
