Martin High School graduate Phillip J. (Butch) Glass Jr. died Saturday, Jan. 13, in Grand Blanc. He was 59.

He was born June 4, 1964, in Grand Rapids, the son of Phillip and Sandra (Bueche) Glass. He graduated from Martin High School in 1982 and worked in construction. On Nov. 4, 2000, he married Melinda Hall, who survives.

Butch was very handy and enjoyed fixing and building things and running his bobcat. He liked working on cars and racing at the Kalamazoo Speedway. He was happiest when relaxing in his yard with his dog, Sammy and visiting with his father.

Also surviving are his daughter, Victoria (Jesse James Roe) Glass of Plainwell; his father, Phillip; sister, Terri (Denny) Ricketson of Caledonia; step-siblings, Shannon Jones, Rickie (Meghan) Jones, Sissy (Mike) White and Joey (Stacy) Jones; aunts, Shirley (John) Kelly and Sharon Cook; mother-in-law, Nancy Hall; sisters-in-law, Wendy (Tim) Graves and Sandy (David) LaFountaine; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Megan), Staci (Nate),Troy (Elizabeth), Kristen, Lauren (Matthew) and Macey (Adrianna); great-nephews, Easton, Colton, Jaxson and Carson; a great niece on the way; his nephew, Logan Schiero and Hannah Zwart.

He was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Dawn Glass; stepmother, Sharon Glass; father-in-law, Jerry Hall and brother-in-law, Dean Hall.

Friends may visit with Butch’s family from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at God’s Will Gospel Center, 1770 Jefferson Rd, Otsego, where a funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, with Pastor Matthew Noble officiating.

Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Elmwood Cemetery in Wayland.
