Wayland native and longtime area teacher Irma M. Fargo died Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Allegan General Hospital.
Mrs. Fargo was born June 7, 1922, in Wayland, the daughter of Julius and Flora (Conrad) Mutschler. She graduated from Allegan County Normal, as well as Western Michigan University, and taught at many country schools in the Allegan area.
She was a past member of the Trowbridge Methodist Church, and later attended the First Congregational Church. She volunteeredmore than 800 hours at the Allegan General Hospital.
Surviving are her two children: Judy Hambley, Dwight and Roxie Fargo; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; her daughter, Janet and her husband, John; two brothers: Everett and Julius; three sisters: Lela, Geneva, Ruth; and her son-in-law, Art Hambley.
Friends may meet with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at 10 am. Pastor Barry Lucas will officiate. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
