Ann P. Wells, age 100, of Martin, died Tuesday, Oct. 18
Born in December 1921, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Siegfried) Rickli, Ann graduated from Martin High School in 1941. She married Harold Wells on April 6, 1945, at Alexandria Air Force Base in Louisiana. After Harold was discharged, they spend a short time in Grand Rapids and Wayland before settling in Martin, where they raised their two children.
Ann worked at JCPenney Company for more than 20 years. She left Penny’s when Harold retired so they could travel. Ann attended the Martin United Methodist Church and was involved in blood drives, the Lions Club and loved her work at JCPenney. She had been known to do a little polka when the music came on. She enjoyed playing cards and doing puzzles.
Ann is survived by her two children: Laura Happ and Jim (Sherlene) Wells; four grandchildren: Megan (Ronnie) West, Joel Happ, Emily Wells and Jay Wells; three great grandchildren; four siblings: Jacob Rickli, Martha Shoemaker, Norma Cribbs and Jim Rickli, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Walt Rickli, Alice McCaffery, Dorothy Levitt.
Friends may gather with family from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Martin United Methodist Church; 969 E. Allegan St. The funeral will take place at 1 p.m. at the same location, with a time of fellowship to follow.
