Daniel Schneiphoto_20160815_WM0074694_0_20160815der, age 71, of Wayland, died Thursday, Aug. 11, after a three-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Dan received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal while serving in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Debb; his children, Joe and Kim Carter, Danielle and Gerry Ball, Michelle and Dave VerMerris; stepchildren, Courtney and Daniel Hernandez, Nathaniel Chapton, Whitney Chapton, Elizabeth Tusing; 12 grandchildren; sisters and brother, Sharon and Tom Boynton, Chip and Elaine Schneider, Pamela and Dan Keeney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Barbara Schneider.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
