Longtime Hopkins dairy farmer John Ybema, age 83, died Thursday, Dec. 17.

John served in the U.S. Army.

John is survived by his wife, Ann; his children, Steven (Patty) Ybema, Marty (Laurie) Ybema, Janeen (Rev. John) Klompien, Arthur (Julie) Ybema, Charles (Kelly M.D.) Ybema; 24 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sisters, Sytske Ybema, Lyke DeBoer; sisters-in-law, Joke Ybema, Irene (Evert) DeWyn; brothers-in-law, Martin L. (Elisabeth) DeHoog, and Case DeHoog.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Dutton United Reformed Church, 6950 Hanna Lake SE, on Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, from 10 to 10:45 am. The funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday with his pastor, Rev. Don Vander Klok officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins.
