Born April 19, 1935, in Martin Township, he was the son of Foster and Florence (Oosterhouse) DeMann. LaVern owned and operated a dairy farm in Martin for many years. He was a member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association and East Martin Christian Reformed Church.

In his free time he enjoyed fishing, playing games and reading to his grandchildren.

On Aug. 29, 1957 in Byron Center he married Tressa Morren who died in 2019.

Surviving are his children, Ken (Michelle) DeMann of Hudsonville, Doug (Jeanne) DeMann of Martin and Pat (Keith) Kuyper of Dorr; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with the 12th arriving any time; brothers, Don (Eleanor) DeMann, Dale (Marilyn) DeMann and Carl (Judy) DeMann; sister, Betty (Phil) VanNoord along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son, Jim DeMann.

Friends may visit with LaVern’s family from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the East Martin Christian Reformed Church, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, with Pastor Derek Noorman officiating.

Private family burial will take place at East Martin Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of LaVern may be made to East Martin Christian School.
