Patty Jean Schiedel of Martin died Sunday, Feb. 13,at the age of 89.

She loved to travel to Carp Lake, where she and husband Marvin rented a cabin for more than 60 years and the family would join them there. She was a member of the Martin Reformed Church for over 50 years and was involved in the Senior Club at the church for many years.

Patty was born in Kalamazoo on May 10, 1932, to Clarence and Marion (Kemp) Engel. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1951.

She had several bird feeders at her home and loved watching them. Patty never missed an event with a card. She would pick out just the right one. It would make her day when she received a homemade card in the mail from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Patty loved to watch old movies and knew everyone in them.

She is survived by her son David (Char) Schiedel; daughter in law, Bonnie Schiedel; three grandchildren: Tami (Paul) Bogdan, Amy (Jonathan) Kalkman, Eric (Carey) Schiedel; six great grandchildren: Caitlyn, Madison, Devin, Sophia, Emily and Megan; her brothers-in-law: Bob Schiedel, Don Schiedel and Ken Schiedel as well as several nieces and nephews.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin; her son Paul; brother-in-law Harold Schiedel and sister-in-law Joyce Van Landegent.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Martin Reformed Church; 1073 W Allegan St. Memorial donations can be made to Martin Reformed Church.
