Wayne was a truck driver for Spartan Stores for 30 years.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 21 years Janet Vander Laan; his mother and step-father Blanche (Vander Laan) and Art Bradley; his children: Bryan Vander Laan, Mark (Mary Hills) Vander Laan, Terri Mulder, Scott (Shannon) Hendges, Tracy (Miguel) Dolar, GySgt Nicholas (Julie) Hendges, and SSgt Matthew (Carly) Hendges; his grandchildren: Alex, Nicole, Dylan, Kayla, Clayton, Mason, Connor, Kristyn, Peyton and Ashton; his great-granddaughter Cammy; his brothers and sisters: Gail (Norm) Hunderman, Louis (Beth) Vander Laan, Renee (Keith) Burgess, and Larry (Sue) Vander Laan; his step-mother-in-law, Johan Balkon; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Pat Balkon Bialek, Linda (Jack) Flory, John (Gail) Balkon, and Dennis (Pat) Balkon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Vander Laan and his brother Raymond Vander Laan, Jr.
Friends may visit with his family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, 4330 18th Street, Dorr. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Grand Rapids.
