Laura Anna (Hophoto_20161018_wm0079419_0_20161018mrich) Junglas, 95, of Dorr, died Monday, Oct. 17.

Laura was born March 13, 1921, in Byron Center to Raymond and Anna Homrich.

Laura had such a strong Christian faith which was evident in her character and servant heart, always putting others first. She opened her heart and her home to all. Upon leaving you had her delicious homemade bread and pie sent with you.

She was a volunteer at Laurels of Sandy Creek in Wayland for 26 years until the age of 90. Laura treated them weekly with a piece of her banana bread after Bingo. In 2007, Laura was honored into Dorr’s Hall of Fame for her significant caring and sharing with the community. When asked about longevity, her answer was “Don’t Quit.”

Laura is survived by her children: Norman (Nenita) Junglas, Carol Dever, Kathleen Berens, Linda (Jim) Hillen, and Ronald Junglas. She will be lovingly remembered by her 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters: Angeline Crooks and Eilene Hurley; and many nieces and nephews and treasured friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Norbert; a daughter Theresa Syswerda; her son-in-law Robert Dever; her grandsons Travis and Chad Cornell; her brothers: Leander, Robert, Rudolph and Armond Homrich; her sisters Dorothy Barnaby, Mildred Prelwitz and Lillian Patterson.

Laura was a member for more than 70 years at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish, 2459-146th Avenue, Byron Center, where her life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday  with Msgr. Mike Hazard, Fr. Stephen Rodrigo and Fr. Christopher Derda presiding. A viewing will be one hour prior.

Friends may visit with Laura’s family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Cook Funeral and Cremation Services, Byron Center, 2067 84th St., S.W., where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.. Friends may also visit with her family from 2 to 6 p,m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Laura may be made to St. Mary’s Visitation Parish or school or the Alzheimer’s Association.
