Donald G. Mercurio, age 90, died Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Don enjoyed retirement with his wife Betty by traveling the country and going back to Alaska, where he was first stationed with the Air Force. He enjoyed working on engines, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

Don loved his Lord and Savior, his family, the 440th Air Lift Wing, and he loved his country. He was a kind, gentle man who helped others in need. He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dorr. He was a Green Bay Packer shareholder.

He is survived by his children Diane Nancy (William G.) Meister; son-in-law, Rev. Stephen J. Otto; siblings, Jim (Mary) Schulz, Ray (Sharry) Schulz; grandchildren, Joshua (Amanda) Otto, and Jeremy (Taylor) Otto; great-grandchildren Colton, Camryn, and Clay Otto; special nephews Steve (Heather) Bohl, and Peter Bohl; special niece, Sarah (Bill) Zwieg; special cousin, Carl (Joyce) Schulz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Mercurio; parents Emory Frank Schulz and Mabel Mercurio; daughter, Peggy Otto; brother-in-law, Henry (Mary Jane) Bohl.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4125 18th St, Dorr. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, with an hour of visitation prior at church. Pastor David Rockhoff will be officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisc.
