Maria Dawn Timmer, age 66 of Wayland, died Sunday, April 24.
She was born on November 21, 1955 in Chicago to John J. and Ruth Ann (nee Noe) Tuka, both preceding her in death. Maria married Thomas J. Timmer, on Dec. 1, 1984, in Wayland.
She attended Decatur High School and worked for many years at Zondervan’s until their closing, at which time she was proud to continue her education to receive an associate’s degree at Davenport University.
Her passions being many, she most enjoyed camping, walks through the woods, and spending countless hours by the rivers, lakes, and ponds near her home, in awe of the gifts of nature bestowed upon her, and she enjoyed sharing these times with those she loved.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas; brothers Eugene (Patti) Tuka of Billings, MT, Anthony Tuka of Sturgis, MI, Frank (Debbie) Tuka of Dowagiac, MI; brother-in-law, Martin (Donna) Kain of Bourbon, IN; sister-in-law, Nancy (Jay) Hoppe of Dorr, MI; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and lifelong friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lisa Kain; father and mother-in-law Fred and Jeanette Timmer; and brother-in-law, Nickolas Timmer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Dorr Chapel (4330 18th St.) Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Dorr Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
