Dorothy L. Chrisman, 92, of Wayland, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Butterworth Campus of Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1924, to Otto and Minerva (Wiggins) Finkbeiner in Leighton Township. She married Wayne Chrisman in 1944. They were married for more than 60 years before his passing.
Dorothy worked as a cashier for Butterworth Hospital for many years. She was a member of Wayland United Methodist Church She had a beautiful singing voice and shared her gift at her church, at weddings, and many other events. Whether she knew you for five minutes or 75 years, she had a loving way of impacting your life and she shared her incredible faith in the Lord with all she encountered.
She was a cashier at the Harding’s Market for many years and was a trustee on the Wayland Board of Education.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons: Kenneth (Charlene) Chrisman and Micheal (Anne) Chrisman; three granddaughters: Heather LaHuis, Jillaine (Lance) Markoski, and Sarah (Jared) Hay; grandson John (Jenna) Chrisman; two great-grandsons, Dominick LaHuis and Nolan Markoski; three great-granddaughters, Ciarra LaHuis, Cayla Hay, and Charlotte Markoski; nephew John (Barb) Crofoot; nieces, Carolyn (David) Christophel, Marcia (Ken) Johnson, Rosalie Crofoot and many close great-nieces and nephews; and special friend Ginger Partridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, parents, Otto and Minerva Finkbeiner, sister, Martha (Robert) Crofoot and a brother; and nephew, Robert Crofoot.
Family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, Wayland. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Wayland United Methodist Church, Wayland. Burial will take place in the Elmwood Cemetery.
