LaVerne Forrest “Benny” Henry, Jr., 76 of Hopkins, Thursday, May 30,  at the Wings Home in Allegan.

LaVerne, known to most as Ben or Benny, was born on Valentine’s Day in 1943 in Hopkins, the son of the late LaVerne and Evelyn (Dunklee) Henry. Benny enjoyed life and spent many hours playing golf at Hidden Valley Golf Course, working on RC model planes, and camping with family and friends. He was also a member of the Friday night men’s bowling league and the Dirt Bike Hill Climb Club. His faithful feline companion, Triena, and he spent many hours watching TV and Disney movies with his family or just visiting with one another and cherishing family time.

LaVerne is survived by his four children, Margaret Arndt, Wendy (Joe) Adrianson, Benjamin Henry and Jeremy (Tiffany) Henry; two sisters, Sandra Brown and Bonnie Nix; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his little brother, Stanley Henry.

Friends may meet with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 4,  at which time the funeral will begin. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Township.

Memorial donations may be made in LaVerne’s name to Shriners Hospitals for Children (Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
