Marcia “Maude” Carpenter, age 74, of Wayland, died at home Wednesday under hospice care.
Maude enjoyed crocheting and knitting and loved angels and cats, especially her faithful friend, Lily. She worked for more than 20 years at the Wayland McDonald’s. She truly enjoyed people. Maude previously was a member of Moline Baptist Church and had been attending the Sycamore Community Baptist Church.
Maude is survived by her daughters: Lorie Carpenter (Kris Lapham), Brenda (Dan) Vander Velde, and Dawn (Phil) Hilaski; her grandchildren: Jason (Sarah) Brenner, Kevin Brenner (Katie), Rachel Hilaski, and Trevor Hilaski; her great-grandchildren: Logan, Ethan, Colette, Katlyn, and Kandus; her sister Beverly Mosher (Jim); and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Siebrand and Marguerite Tornga and her sister Yvonne Tornga.
Friends may visit with Maude’s family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, Wayland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, with Pastor Kelly Ryan officiating. A private interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Grand Rapids.
Donations in memory of Maude may be made to Crash’s Landing Animal Rescue, Sycamore Community Baptist Church, or the Lincoln Foundation School.
