‘Funtastic’ summer free lunch series off next week

The Wayland Union Schools’ summer “Funtastic” free lunch and entertainment series will take a break next week during the Fourth of July holiday.

There will be no free lunches or special programs between July 3 and July 7. The series will resume Monday, July 10, and two programs will be held Tuesday and Thursday that week.

The schools has partnered with local businesses and the Henika District Library to offer a series of fun, summer events where a free meal will be provided for children age 18 and under. Students can participate in fun, free events in the Wayland area. Lunch will be served immediately following the events listed below unless otherwise stated. Adults may purchase lunch for $3 and is served free to children age 18 and under.

 

Free lunches are served Monday through Friday, June 14-Aug. 18, except July 3-7 at Steeby Elementary School, Hunters Glen Trailer Park, Sawmill Estates and Windsor Woods Village.

When the series resumes after the Fourth of July week, the special events will be:

• Outdoor Discovery Center – Tuesday, July 11 at 10:30am at Steeby Elementary. Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

• Playtime in the Park – Thursday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at Wayland City Park. Free book for each family. For children age birth to age 5, older siblings are welcome to join! Lunch will be noon to 12:30 p.m.
