Jean R. (Mc Carthy) Thompson, age 83, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Feb. 11.
Jean will be remembered for her smile and her passion for the Detroit Tigers, tennis, animals and her beautiful gardens. She would work for hours caring for her plants. She will be remembered in other’s gardens because she shared her plants, heart and knowledge.
She is survived by, son Frank Thompson, daughter Polly Thompson, grandson Kyle Thompson, granddaughter Brooke Thompson, daughter-in-law Barbara Christensen, sister-in-law’s Patricia Minnema, Gladys Baker, Patricia Thompson, Mary Ellen Thompson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tom and Janet Thompson and many nieces and nephews, She will be missed by her friends, Marilyn Larson, Betty Courtade, Stella, Elizabeth, Mike and Vicki, Jorge and Renee. She will also be missed by her sweet pets Bear, Peaches, Tiger Lily and Annie.
Jean’s husband of 47 years, Louis D. Thompson preceded her in death in 2012.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services in Wayland, 312 N Main St. In honor of Jean, contributions may be made to Susan Mast ALS Foundation
