A 44-year-old Grand Rapids man was killed in a crash near Exit No. 55 (Martin) along the U.S.-131 expressway.

Troopers from the Wayland post of Michigan State Police indicated that David Butela was killed early Sunday morning when the car he was driving left the road, rolled over several times and then crashed. Butela and the car were not discovered until hours after the incident.

Authorities said they were called at about 7 a.m. Sunday, but believe the crash not far from 116th Avenue in Martin Township occurred hours before. They added they suspect alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident, but the driver was wearing a seat belt.
