GR woman sentenced to prison for sex trafficking

The Grand Rapids woman who was found guilty of sex trafficking charges along with a Wayland man was sentenced Monday to between three and 15 years in prison.

Vanessa Anne Phillips, 40, had been found guilty of one count of human trafficking — forced labor causing injury. She was judged to be an accomplice of Robert Grigsby, 52, of Wayland in a sex traffic operation at his home on Maple Street.

Wayland City Police raised Grigsby’s home in 2018 and 2019 and said they found evidence of sex trafficking and the presence of drugs. Officers The investigation also alleged there were  6,000 online ads linked to the prostitution ring.

Grigsby earlier this month was sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in prison in connection with his charges.
