Grandma’s Recipe Box: Apple dump cake; bring in the kids

This is another great recipe to make with the kids. Grandma always used her canned apples, but you could choose any style pie filling and cake mix. The flavor is entirely your choice!

Apple Dump Cake

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

• 2 – 21 oz. cans apple pie filling (Grandma used 1 quart of her home canned apples).

• 1 -15 oz. boxed yellow cake mix

•1 teaspoon apple pie spice (Grandma used 1 teaspoon cinnamon, with a pinch of nutmeg).

• 1 stick butter – 1/2 cup

Grease a 9-by-13 baking dish or spray with cooking spray. Spread Apple pie filling evenly into the baking dish.

In a medium bowl combine the cake mix and seasoning, stirring to make sure you have broken up any clumps in the cake mix. Spread evenly over the pie filling.

Dot with 1/2 cup of thinly sliced butter, cold or melted, by covering as much of the top as possible. Bake for 45 minutes.

Nice and easy recipe. But you forgot one thing. Imagine a nice scoop of Hudsonville ice cream on your piece while it is still slightly warm?
Keep them coming and we will keep enjoying them.
