Donald Guritz, 75, of Hopkins, died Monday, July 12, at home.

Born Dec. 2, 1945 in Chicago, he was the son of the late Harvey Guritz and Betty Stegeman. Don graduated from Allegan High School in 1964.

He served his country from 1964 to 1966, spending one year in Vietnam. Don was married in 1969 and he moved to Hopkins with his wife, Lupita, where they raised their three children, Doug, Brian and Angela.

He retired from GM after 32 years and then spent much of his time restoring Thunderbird cars and old Allis-Chalmers tractors. Don also loved spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his son, Doug Guritz; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Don is also survived by three sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Wilson, Darlene (Jerry) Gant and Diane Linder; and one brother, Chuck (Karisa) Stegeman.

Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Lupita; children, Brian Guritz and Angela Guritz; and his grandson, Dustin Guritz.

A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, July 16,  at Hicks Cemetery, Watson Township, where Don will be laid to rest beside Lupita.
