Emily May Smith, 63, formerly of Hopkins, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, at The Lodge at Taylor Mich.

Born July 4, 1957 in Grand Rapids, she was the daughter of the late Harold W. and Evelyn (Root) Smith. Emily had attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for more than 40 years.

She was a gifted artist who loved drawing and crocheting. She created beautiful pieces of clothing and blankets for family and friends. Emily had a passion for dancing, writing and everything art. She especially loved singing to her daughter, Rachel, regardless of time or place.

She is survived by her children, Rachel Campisi and Devin Campisi; siblings, Darlene DeBres, Kevin Smith, Terry (Sue) Smith, Becky (Dennis) Fate and Nancy Smith; and her grandchildren, Areyana Sweeter, Caisey Sweeter and Avalon Sweeter.

Besides her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Smith and Randal Smith.

A graveside funeral service took place at Miner Cemetery, Watson Township, on Thursday, Jan. 21. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
