Great Lakes Traditional Arts Gathering will be July 29-Aug. 2 in Hopkins

Great Lakes eventRegistration is now open for the Great Lakes Traditional Arts Gathering July 29 – Aug. 2 at the Great Lake Lifeways Institute, 3494 28th St., Hopkins.

New this year is the offer of a 10% discount for registrations completed before March 1. Just click the “Register Now” button on the Great Lakes Traditional Arts Gathering web site and the discount is automatic. You may also use any applicable discount codes for additional savings:

• Returning participants receive 20% discount

• Families of  three or more who register together receive a 15% discount

• Great Lakes Lifeways Institute members receive 10% discount

The institute is putting together the lineup for this summer and will be updating the web site regularly as new instructors are confirmed.

Highlights this year include:

• New catering menu options with ingredients and dishes that reflect a commitment to native, local, sustainably sourced, and wild foods

• Building a birch bark canoe with Ferdy Goode.

• Mississippian shell tempered pottery making workshop and cooking demonstration with nationally recognized traditional potter Chip Williams.

• Real flush toilets have been installed at the event site! No more portables.
