Gun Lake Enterprises co-owner Dennis LaFountain dies

Dennis LaFountain died Sunday, Nov. 2, at his son’s home in Otsego. He was 65 years old.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1959, in Plainwell and co-owned and operated Gun Lake Enterprises for more than 40 years.

Outside of his professional life, Dennis had a profound passion for horse racing, particularly sulky racing, and he owned and raced numerous horses throughout the years. His love for the outdoors was evident in his many hobbies, which included hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He especially cherished moments spent with his mother in Florida.

Dennis is survived by his parents, Richard LaFountain of Martin and Paula Smith of Florida; his children, Dustin (Crystal) Anderson of Texas, Trevor (Megan) LaFountain of Otsego, Kristy LaFountain of Orangeville, and Isaac LaFountain of Martin; eight grandchildren; siblings, Todd, Jerry, Moe, Dell, Joe, Joanie, Jeanie, Sherrie and Dianne; his longtime companion, Shannon, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
