Gun Lake Tribe helps rebirth of Hot ‘N Now

“Do you wanna be a clown?

“Do you wanna wear a crown?

“Or do you want the nest taste in town?

“Quality at Hot n’ Now.” — The restaurant chain’s televised advertising jingle 40 years ago, with references to McDonald’s and Burger King.

Gun Lake Investments, an economic arm of the Gun Lake Tribe,is leading the charge for the rebirth of the Hot & Now restaurant chain later this summer.

Gun Lake Investments and business owner-developer Jeff Konczak, have announced fast food chain will be installed at a new location across from the Gun Lake Casino near the U.S.-131 overpass in Wayland Township.

Another eatery is planned for Alpena later this fall.

Hot & Now will feature offerings such as the olive burger, cheesy taters and “wallet-friendly prices.”

Hot ‘n Now first opened in Kalamazoo in 1984, but after changing ownership several times finally closed its doors due to bankruptcy in 2004.

Gun Lake Investments CEO Monica King said in a press release, the Hot ’n Now “brand has a multi-decade history of providing value to families, so we intend to honor that history in this next chapter with our hyper-value focused pricing,”

Developer Konczak’s company, B Cubed Manufacturing, will assemble the drive-through buildings with a “plug and play” concept. The restaurant is built off-site, then assembled on location.

Gun Lake Investments last January announced it had acquired Hot ‘n Now with plans to open more locations in the coming years.
