Longtime Gun Lake Tribe member Dawn Krauss, 63, of Hudsonville, died Sunday, March 10.

Dawn was a proud wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother.  She was a member of the Gun Lake Tribe and one of the Tribe’s first employees, retiring after 15+ years. Being a part of this extended family, she was able to contribute in the pursuit of federal recognition and programs that will continue into the future.

Dawn shared 30 years of wedded bliss with her husband Graham Krauss. Also surviving are her mother Ardis Badger-Jimenez; children, Ryan (Missy) Krauss and their children, Joshua, Josiah and Cayden, Kelly (Steve) Levandoski and their children, Dylan, Alexiss, Steven Jr. and Hunter, Melissa Brown and children, Ethan and Carter, Derrick (Whitney) Krauss, Michael (Victoria) Mullins and their children, Hope, Logan, Aiden, Austin and Harper; great-grandchildren: Aubree, Piper and Paige Leenheer; siblings: Leslie Studey, Dee Sanders, Gail Overbeck, Rolly (Sharon) Krauss, Karen Rummel and Dale Ann Green; many cousins, nieces, nephews and her long time best friends: Maureen Smith, Linda Carson and Deb Tappin.

She was preceded in death by her father Dale Badger, her first husband Mac Baumgardner; brothers-in-law Bill Overbeck and George Rummel.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, at the Gun Lake Community Church, 12200 W M-179 Hwy, Wayland, with Pastor Danny Jimenez officiating. Burial will be at the Bradley Indian Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St. and Friday one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Van Andel Institute, Parkinson’s Disease Research or Toys for Tots.
