
The annual Gun Lake Winterfest celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Gun Lake County Park at the east end of 124th Avenue.
However, some pre-festival activities already are under way.
Russo’s Pizzeria and Bar and Grill is having three rounds of singing competition between now and Feb. 21, with the second round taking place Saturday, Jan. 24. A complimentary beer glass can be obtained with a drink purchase at participating establishments in the area.
The annual chili cook-off competition, sponsored by the Yankee Springs Snowmobile Association, is planned for Saturday, Jan. 24.
Sts. Cyril & Methodius will have a murder mystery theater and dinner Saturday evening, Jan. 31, from 5 to 9 p.m.
A Gun Lake Winterfest Walk, guided by the Gun Lake chapter of the North Country Trail Association, will step off from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.
A community blood drive will be held at Berkshire Hathaway Insurance on 124th Ave., from 1:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19.
The famous Polar Bear Dip in Gun Lake on the shores of the park will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, from 3 to 4 p.m. Emergency medical personnel will be on hand.

Also planned that Saturday are a fishing or disc golf tournament, the Birdie Blizzard disc golf tournament, a bustling vendor market, taking in the action at the Winterfest Main Stage, and enjoying food, games and family-friendly activities.
