Henikas visit Wayland for tour of Henika Library

Nancy Henika and her husband Kevin, visiting all the way from Maine, stopped in Wednesday for their very first visit to the Henika District Library in Wayland.

Nancy is a descendant of George Henika, husband of Julia Henika, the original donor and namesake of Wayland’s more than 125-year-old library.

A library spokesperson said, “They heard about the library from a relative who collects family history and decided to see it for themselves. We were thrilled to give them a tour of the building and share how the Henika legacy has been both preserved and expanded over the years.

“Nancy and Kevin said they were excited about everything we’re doing here and showed their support in a big way—purchasing some of our library T-shirts and making a generous donation to our expansion fund! They also plan to spread the word to other Henika family members and share our website so more can support the library.

“We’re so grateful for their visit—and their continued support of Henika District Library’s mission and future!”
